Mums and Bubs Yoga Classes & Support Group

 (WESTON)

These classes are limited to 10 new mothers and babies and offer a friendly, non judgemental environment where you can be honest and respectfully heard.  Over the many years I have been running these groups the connections and friendships that are formed often continue – providing ongoing support and enduring friendships .  (Many of the earlier groups are still meeting up 20 years on!)

The yoga practices release physical tension, aches and pains, help to restore your core muscles and soothe your nervous system.

After yoga, baby songs/massage and movements we share the highs and lows of mothering as well as topics such as sharing the load,  revisiting your birth experience, approaches to parenting, opportunities to unpack your labour and birth and much more……

I hope you can join us for these special classes!

  • Re-train your core muscles after the birth of your baby
  • Teach you mindfulness practices to manage the challenges of nurturing your baby and yourself
  • Stretch and strengthen your body in a safe way
  • Release tension and tightness from feeding and carrying your baby
  • Give you practices for yourself whilst being with your baby
  • Show you simple ways to soothe and entertain you baby through gentle movements,  massage and songs
  • Provide an environment for honest discussion of the highs and lows of being a new parent including:: changes in your relationships,  the opportunity to share your birth story, challenges with sleep and more!

Please have your 6 week check-up after a vaginal birth and 10 – 12 weeks clearance if you had a Caesarean birth before attending.  Make sure you ask your physiotherapist to check your abdomen for any separation of the muscles (Diastasis Recti) and that you are doing pelvic floor exercises correctly.

Life with a new baby can be challenging.  If you are experiencing feelings of overwhelm, anxiety, depression or just feel you are not coping please contact Perinatal Wellbeing Centre.

“I’d like to say a HUGE thank you to you for all of the amazing knowledge and support shared during your yoga classes that I attended. I absolutely loved coming along to mums and bubs yoga and it gave me a sense of connection to other mums going through the same things with their new babies, plus the yoga helped me build back strength after having my baby.” – Kristina.

I have done both the pre and post natal classes with Julia. When I first signed up I wasn’t sure if it would be my thing but what I found was an amazing space where I could just relax and focus on my body and baby. There is something really grounding about being around a group of mothers. Julia has created a truly special space.  Each class has a slightly different routine and is often curated to peoples’ needs that week. The chats with the group at the end are a lovely way to stay connected with other mothers.

I highly recommend Julia’s classes.”

Julia facilities a lovely supportive community in mums and bubs yoga. The classes are a lovely combination of yoga, songs and movement for the babies, and discussion over a cup of tea after class. It’s a great way to incorporate gentle movement into the postpartum period and meet other like-minded mums.
