Becoming a mother can be both incredible and challenging at the same time. Most of us begin parenting with little or no experience and are expected to somehow “know” what to do. We probably do instinctively know but we can feel disempowered and confused by being told conflicting advise by both professionals and family members alike. At the Mother and Baby Yoga and Support Group we offer the chance to be with other mums in an authentic way, not judgmental way and can develop confidence in our own wisdom and instincts.
Physically the yoga provides a gentle way to not only strengthen weakened muscles from pregnancy such as abdominals and pelvic floor but also to learn skills of relaxation and inner stillness that can help you to cope with sleepless nights, a crying baby and many of the other situations that mothering brings. The techniques taught are simple yet effective and can be used even whilst feeding your baby and are valuable for life.
Babies are involved in the yoga and simple baby yoga and songs are included. Baby massage classes are held independantly.
These small groups enable women to bond and form friendships based on support, acceptance and encouragement which often last for many years.
You do not need to have practised yoga to attend as postures are simple and modified to individual needs.
