Dancing for Birth classes were designed by dancer and doula Stephanie Larson in US and are a wonderful way to prepare you for the challenge of birth. You’ll become stronger, more agile, more at ease with your body and both mentally and physically ready to embrace your unique birth experience. You’ll learn moves inspired by Belly dance, African dance and Latin dance.
At the same time you’ll be learning valuable childbirth preparation skills and natural pain coping techniques that will build your confidence in your own birthing ability. Did you know that there is an optimal position for your baby to be in when labour begins and you can help assure that position? Dancing for Birth participants report experiencing low levels of discomfort, few or no interventions, brief labours and high levels of satisfaction during their births.
Class size is limited to 10 women and sessions include a chance to share, some yoga stretches, dancing moves specifically geared to pregnancy, Active Birth information and lots of other labour skills.
No experience necessary! Come along and try out the classes – the first one is free.
New class starting on Wednesday 31st August 12.00 – 1.30pm. Church of Christ Hall, corner of Namatjira Drive and Parkinson Street (next to Irish Club) Weston
